I want to...

I've written before about my students creativity and uniqueness and once again they have entertained me.  Last week I decided to teach the "Bucket List" lesson, first explaining to kids what it is and then giving them some time to write their own. Obviously some of my students took it much more serious than others but all of their answers were enjoyable to read.  I gave the students about 10 minutes and asked them to try and make a list of at least 10 things they want to do before they die, some kids were writing before I said go while others stared blankly into oblivion.

I want to...

Some of the answers were pretty typical:
1. Marry ____ (insert Kpop stars name here)
2. Travel abroad with friends
3. Drive a Porsche, Lamborghini, Audi, etc.
4. Live in a mansion
5. Go backpacking
6. Go to space
7. See Niagra falls
8. See the olympics

Or at least typical of a High School student Korea:
1. Sleep all day
2. Get plastic surgery
3. Grow taller
4. Have a successful diet / lose weight

Some were endearing:
1. Buy my parents a house
2. Volunteer with children in Africa
3. Help the poor
4. Meet the perfect wife
5. Marry the nicest boy in the world

Some were strange:
1. Swim in potato chips
2. Be a world invader
3. Buy a gun
4. Live on mars
5. Kill the Japanese / destroy Japan

But most were just plain unique and awesome:
1. See Christmas in American streets (i'm assuming she meant all the lights)
2. Visit North Korea  (meaning there would be peace so he could visit)
3. Be CEO of the apple company
4. Eat until i'm full
5. See Green Day in concert (this kid rules)
6. Be in the FBI or CIA
7. Be kid rich (literally he meant have tons of kids)
8. Buy all the limited edition goods in the world
9. Be in the Guinness book of world records
10. Borrow a department store for a day
11. Run with Usain Bolt
12. Live in a palace with 3000 beautiful women
13. Marry an American boy
14. Eat all the chocolate in the wold
15. Honeymoon in the Maldives
16. Drive on the Autobahn
17. Sail a Yacht on all of the Oceans

I'm hoping the kids got a little something out of this lesson. If nothing else their creative and thoughtful minds gave more more ideas of what to add to my own (the highlighted items above to name a few). Having to leave my students after this year is already something I don't want to think about. Can't I just bring them with me? (Well, some of them at least)
